Donate to dsok

Posted 18th October 2006

We've just set up the facility to accept donations on the justgiving website. This is a great way to contribute towards the work we do including events such as our forthcoming education day.

Better still, by donating through the website, giftaid is automatically reclaimed on our behalf. That means for every £1 a UK taxpayer donates, dsok can reclaim 28% tax!

Cranial Osteopathy

Posted 17th June 2006

Several of our members have found that cranial osteopathy has helped to clear up problems such as 'glue' ear and other persistent health difficulties. The website for the General Osteopathic Council is www.osteopathy.org.uk.

The Helix House website www.helixhouse.co.uk/sunflower_therapy.asp is also a useful website as it gives a lot of information about osteopathy. The Sunflower Trust at www.sunflowertrust.com has its own practitioners who specialise in treating children with special needs although not specifically Down syndrome. They also offer help with paying for treatments.

Whoever you find it is always a good idea to ring them in advance and find out what experience they have in working with children with Down syndrome. You are not likely to find any osteopaths listed as being cranial osteopaths as cranial work is just part of the whole body treatment.
